Direct Tokaido Shinkansen services run from Shin-Osaka Station to Tokyo Station. Start by travelling to Shin-Osaka rather than Osaka Station, then follow the Shinkansen signs for your assigned train and platform.

The fastest and best-value option depends on the departure time, seat availability and ticket conditions on your travel date. Search the live route before booking rather than treating a sample duration or fare as guaranteed.

Shin-Osaka is the high-speed rail station for Osaka. Allow enough time to transfer from Osaka, Umeda, Namba or another local station, especially during busy periods. Keep your ticket delivery or collection instructions available when approaching the Shinkansen gates.

Nozomi is normally the quickest service, while Hikari and Kodama make additional stops. The result page shows the actual option available for the selected date.

Tokyo Station connects with JR local lines, the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line and onward rail services. Check which exit or transfer is closest to your accommodation before arrival because the station complex is large.

If you plan an airport transfer or another intercity train on the same day, leave a realistic connection buffer rather than relying on the scheduled arrival minute alone.

Ordinary reserved seats provide a confirmed place on the selected train. Green Car provides a wider 2+2 layout and more legroom. Gran Class is not part of the Tokaido Shinkansen product.
